COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Planning Commission approved the rezoning of a small parcel of vacant property Monday night as there are plans to convert a former barber shop at 158 Jefferson Street into a coffee shop and cafe.
Applicant Talal Al-Abssi wanted to rezone two-tenths of an acre from one and two family residential to community business district.
Planning Director Jacob VanBoxel did not see an issue with the request.
VanBoxel also felt it was consistent with another near by property the applicant owns.
Fire Marshal Steve Trall, City Inspector Ken Fickle and VanBoxel conducted a walk through inspection of the building in June and had no concerns with the proposed use.
