Jack Dean Lutjens, 83 of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his home in Coldwater surrounded by his family.
In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born December 16, 1939 to Hartzel and Helen (Purdy) Lutjens in Coldwater, MI. Jack was a graduate of Coldwater High School where he then pursued his career with Profile Extrusion and retired in 2002. On June 11, 1961 Jack married Mary Ellen Squires in Coldwater, MI and she survives.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated fan of Michigan sports, but what he loved above all else was watching his grandchildren compete in their own sporting events. Jack will be dearly missed as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife Mary Ellen, Jack is survived by his children Gayla (Art) Hammill of Quincy, Penny (Rick) Messner of Parma, MI, Dean (Sonia) Lutjens of Coldwater; his sister Phyllis (Allan) Herman of Coldwater, Brother-in-law Harry Squires of Coldwater; his grandchildren Allen (Becky Wallen) Hammill, Lance Hammill, Trevor Hammill, Jared (Kelsey) Hammill, Stepfanie (Shane) Tribble, Miranda (Jaden Bennett) Lutjens, Cassandra Lutjens, Taylor (Dakota) Wilson, Brent (Jami) Ferris; his great grandchildren Aurora Hammill, Carter Ferris, Isaac Ferris, Blake Wilson; his many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marilyn Rodesiler, Linda Lutjens, his brother-in-law Donald Rodesiler and his granddaughter Marissa Lutjens.
