QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – On a 5-2 vote, the Quincy School Board on Monday night approved the hiring of Kristen Frisbie as the district’s Director of Grants, Student Support Services and Curriculum.
The no votes were cast by Erin Veysey and Greg Richer.
The board was scheduled to take formal action on Frisbie’s hiring last month. But the item was removed from the July agenda before the start of the meeting. Quincy Superintendent Marc Kramer said at the time the position was being tabled as it had become a hot button issue.
Kramer said during Monday’s meeting which was posted on You Tube an interview committee consisting of principals and himself interviewed four candidates.
He said the committee looked into concerns raised by those opposed to the hiring and could not find a compelling reason to dismiss Frisbie as a candidate.
A teacher at Ryan Elementary, where Frisbie used to be a principal, did not think the committee’s investigation was valid.
Frisbie stepped down as the Ryan Principal on April 14. Her departure came after some parents had been grumbling about conditions at the school.
