BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Saying it was necessary to fund the major projects needed to reduce inflow and infiltration under the Administrative Consent Order with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, the Bronson City Council approved a request from city staff on Monday night to increase wastewater readiness-to-serve fees $9.40 per month on ¾ inch services.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the water and sewer rates were based on the projected costs in the Fiscal Year 24 budget. While wastewater rates will see an increase there will be no change for commodity charges covering water.
Mersman said in his report this increase prepares the City for the project under the assumption the City of Bronson will not receive any grant dollars.
In other business, the City Council approved Branch County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan that outlines the community’s options to reduce damages and impacts from natural and technological hazards.
