COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Former Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Executive Director Lisa Miller was honored recently during the Michigan Economic Developer’s Association annual conference.
She was presented with the Robert Sieghart Award for Enthusiasm in the Economic Development Profession.
The award was created to honor professionals who love the profession of economic development, understand the importance of economic development to all communities in Michigan, help recruit talent and partners into the economic development field, and pursue jobs and investment.
Miller’s successor Audrey Tappenden presented Miller with the award during the ceremony after having nominated her for the honor earlier this summer.
Tappenden said during the awards ceremony, “Lisa has helped recruit more than 1,500 jobs because she is an effective collaborator. A creative problem solver. And a woman who has inspired many to join the economic development field, myself included. Her people-focused approach is laser-focused on getting to “yes” by always touting the “why”, and her appreciation and adeptness for relationship-building has made her work deeply personal to the communities she has served. Our county is grateful for her decades of service, and it has been a tremendous pleasure to work with her for the past five years.
Miller said, “I am honored to receive this award from the Michigan Economic Developers Association. Economic Development is a team sport and I’ve been blessed with wonderful colleagues throughout my career.”
Miller has received other awards throughout her career including the Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Women in Business Award, and the 2013 Catalyst Award presented to professionals with significant contributions that resulted in economic growth and job creation in Southwest Michigan.
She served as Director of the BCEGA from 2009 until June of this year and continues to work in the economic development field through her business MMK Consulting.
