Gwenda Sue “Gwen” Berry, 68, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her home in Coldwater surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12 noon at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again Friday, August 25, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
She was born September 3, 1954 to Roger and Nancy (York) McKnight in Des Moines, IA. On June 22, 1974 Gwen married Quinn Berry in Coldwater and he survives.
She led a dedicated career as a respiratory therapist with both Coldwater Hospital and the Battle Creek Health System for over 40 years until her retirement. Gwen was completely devoted to her job that she truly loved and was second to none when it came to the care of others.
After retiring in 2018, Gwen and Quinn wintered in Florida in the Angler’s Cove Community, where she enjoyed socializing, playing cards and darts and participating in the women’s golf league. She was an avid traveler, her favorite trips included the 30 year tradition of family vacations at Myrtle Beach and her several “Girls Trips.”
Gwen enjoyed DIY projects at home and simply loved life at the lake and being a part of the Shady Oaks/South Chain of Lakes Community; but her greatest passion of all was her children and grandchildren where she especially enjoyed watching them compete in sports.
She will be dearly missed as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
In addition to her husband Quinn, Gwen leaves behind her children Morgan (Josh) Frasier, Trevor (Tricia) Berry, both of Coldwater, Lerin (Lance) Hasten of Quincy; her brother Steven (Ann) McKnight of Appleton, WI; her grandchildren Finnegan Hanson, Cameron and Caleb Berry, Addison, Easton, and Maizie Hasten; her brother-in-law John Dabbelt of Ft. Wayne; extended family member Fran McKnight of Omaha, NE and her loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant grandson Jackson Berry, her mother and father-in-law Charles and Helen Berry, and her sister-in-laws Janice (Berry) Dabbelt and Patricia (Berry) Gill.
Memorial donations are suggested to ProMedica Hospice or to the ProMedica Coldwater Cancer Center.
