COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Schools Grades 6-12 Advanced Studies Curriculum Chair Brian Stevens says the high school’s Advanced Placement Scores readily beat several global averages in 2023.
Coldwater High School provides AP classes in twelve disciplines equivalent to college-level courses. After taking these courses, students have the opportunity to take a culminating test given throughout the world in May.
Scores run from one to five with a score of three and above generally earning college credit in 1,700 colleges throughout the United States.
In the disciplines of English Language, Psychology, US Government, and US History, Coldwater class averages were higher than the global averages in their discipline.
In total, Coldwater students scored a three or above in 169 tests, thus achieving college credit.
Stevens says, “I’m very proud of our dedicated teachers. I’ve traveled around the country conducting workshops, getting the chance to observe other teachers and districts. Coldwater High does very well in AP, year in year out. We’re very fortunate to have ambitious students and dedicated staff.”
Coldwater High School AP teachers over the past year were Mark DeMeester, Robert Hostetler, Mike McConnell, Kalyn Moore, Arielle Norris, Ryan Sheetz, Jamie Spray, Stevens and Nathan Waterbury.
