COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Thursday’s high temperature is expected to get into the mid 90s with heat index readings over 100 but Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Paul Flynn says classes will be held.
Flynn said on Wednesday’s edition of “Delaney in the Morning” they will be open as all buildings have sufficient air conditioning for students and staff.
Parents who are concerned about their child on the afternoon bus run are encouraged to provide alternate transportation.
Classes are cancelled for Thursday in the Bronson, Union City and Quincy school districts. The BISD is closed including the Branch Area Careers Center, the Waldron Center campus and the early childhood programs.
Pansophia Academy will be dismissing students at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
A half day of classes were held on Wednesday in the Bronson Community School District.
Thursday’s heat is also affecting a couple of events. Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Executive Director Audrey Tappenden told the Downtown Development Authority Board on Wednesday morning that Hops on Monroe for this week has been scrubbed.
The Village of Quincy’s Sounds of Summer concert on Thursday night featuring the County Line Band has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. so it will be a little cooler for everyone.
