COLDWATER LAKE, MI (WTVB) – The use of golf carts around Coldwater Lake is being discussed by lake area residents.
Over 60 persons attended a meeting that was held on August 19 at the Coldwater Lake Association and the association said on its web site that, “the support for golf cart use amongst lake area residents was keen.”
The association added members were offered a review of the laws and dangers of golf cart use on public roads during the meeting and there was an interest on ways to make golf cart use safe and legal for lake residents.
An Ovid Township Board Member was in attendance and the topic is expected to be on the Board’s agenda during their meeting on September 11 which starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Hall on South Angola Road.
The agenda item is to communicate the community’s interest in the township pursuing a golf cart ordinance at their earliest convenience.
The township has granted one speaker to represent the group in a brief presentation and area residents who have interest are encouraged to attend. There will be time set aside for public comment at the end of the meeting.
The State of Michigan prohibits the use of typical golf carts on public roads but there is an exception to the law that allows any Township of less than 30,000 people the ability to construct an ordinance which allows for the use of standard Golf Carts within certain State mandated limitations.

My problem with the golf carts around Coldwater Lake are the kids that are driving them I think they’re way too young and they should not be driving them had to put up no trespassing signs in my yard because they were driving through it all the time I think there should be an age limit and they should have to take some kind of classes so that they know what they’re doing and how to drive them thank you
I’m forward to read more of your blogs and gain even more knowledge about the golf cart industry. Continue the excellent work!
