SCOTT TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – A motorcyclist was injured Sunday night in a two vehicle crash at the intersection of State Road 827 and County Road 300 North in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the crash was reported at about 6:00 p.m..
Deputies found 20-year-old Allen Jones of Clayton, Indiana injured and laying in a grassy area near the intersection when they arrived.
An initial crash scene investigation indicated that a motorcycle driven by Jones was struck by a 2011 GMC Terrain driven by 51-year-old Tina R. Leep of Redford, Michigan as she was making a left hand turn.
Jones was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the collision. He suffered apparent lacerations and abrasions and was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan helicopter. Jones was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash still remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were Steuben County EMS and the Fremont Fire Department.
