HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A suspect in a stabbing and a residential break in which took place over the Labor Day holiday weekend in Hillsdale County was formally charged on Tuesday.
36-year-old Steven Ray Betzer of Waldron is facing charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and first degree home invasion.
On line records from the Michigan Department of Corrections indicate Betzer absconded from probation on July 3 and that he has a criminal history going back to 2004.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police post in Jackson investigated the stabbing that took place Sunday night in the 9000 block of Crampton Road.
They say a 58-year-old from Hillsdale suffered multiple non-life threatening stab wounds and was treated at Hillsdale Hospital.
Betzer was later arrested by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department after a break in at a Cambria Township residence.
Bond was set at $75,000. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday, September 13.
