SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – The Union City and Quincy cross country teams competed at the Springport Invitational on Wednesday.
Union City won the boys meet with 41 points followed by East Jackson with 62 and Manchester with 81.
Eight Chargers earned medals by finishing in the top 30.
Union City’s Ben Hautsche was second with a time of 17:42.3. Cullen Decker was sixth while Noah June was ninth. Other medal winners for the Chargers were Cohen Burdick (11th), Maddox Miller (13th), Malachi Payne (14th), Montana Connell (20th) and Aiden Taylor (24th).
Quincy was eighth in the boys meet standings. Their lone medalist was Chayse Jensen as he finished 25th.
Concord edged Union City by four points for first place in a very close girls meet as seven points separated the top three teams. Concord had 41 points followed by Union City with 45. Quincy was third with 48 points.
Six Union City runners earned medals led by Alli Gautsche who was second with a time of 21:48.9. Other Charger medal winners were Skylar Fraley (4th), Elizabeth Arlt (13th), Alissa Skirka (14th), Carly Smith (15th) and Keira Taylor (21st).
Eight Quincy runners earned medals led by Kendyl Musielewicz who was fifth with a time of 23:04.1. Other medal winners for the Orioles were Brookelyn Parker (8th), Sadie Miller (9th), Clare Robertson (11th), Brooke McVicker (22nd), Elizabeth Craig (28th), Peyton Proctor (29th) and Libby Butchart (30th).
