Phyllis Marie Coscarelly, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A private graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Phyllis was born January 25, 1932, in Coldwater, MI to Joseph & Ermelinda (Lopez) Coscarelly. Phyllis spent 63 years with the love of her life, Charles E. May. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2022.
Ms. Coscarelly graduated from St. Charles High School in 1949 and earned her BA degree from Sienna Heights College in Adrian in 1953. She taught English, Communications and Drama at Coldwater High School for 37 years, retiring in 1990.
In her younger years, Phyllis had worked at the former Blue Bird Confectionary in Coldwater, which her family had founded after coming to the US from Italy.
Phyllis was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church; she loved attending events at Burnside Senior Center and spending time with her “breakfast club.” She was passionate about golfing, gardening and was very artistic, with a flair for decorating.
Phyllis is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Coscarelly of Trenton; her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own, Theresa, Christine, Mary Jane, Catherine, Susan, Herb, David, Christopher, Joseph, Tim, Craig and Dan; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to Charles, she was also preceded in death by her brothers Gerald, Herbert (Mary) Coscarelly; her sister Geraldine Coscarelly and her very close cousin Pauline DePaolo.
Memorials may be directed to the Branch Area Food Pantry or the Burnside Senior Center.
