She bought a cottage on Marble in the mid-60s and moved full time to Quincy in 1975.
She made her home on the lake by spending summers swimming or boating with her friends affectionately known as the ‘Raft Rats’. During the off season (every season but summer) she would spend her free time showing dogs, quilting, or traveling to Chicago and Pennsylvania to spend time with friends and family.
After her retirement from Branch County as a Deputy Clerk, she briefly worked as the secretary at the Union Church and continued to work as a volunteer at the Union Church Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Sturgis Kennel Club and the Marble Chain of Lakes Association.
