Marlin Edward Gallup, 90, of Tekonsha, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at his home in Tekonsha, MI.
In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tekonsha First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Perry officiating.
The family will receive guests for visitation that morning from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
He was born January 17, 1933 to Harry and Edna (Staley) Gallup on their family farm in Tekonsha, MI. Marlin was a graduate of Tekonsha High School class of 1951. On June 12, 1954 Marlin married Kay V. Doolittle sharing 56 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 2, 2011.
Marlin farmed and led a dedicated career of 34 years with Midwest Foundry until their closing where he then was employed with Midwest Metallurgical and where he ultimately retired. He was a lifelong member of the Tekonsha First Baptist Church and had also served as a devoted member of the Tekonsha Lions Club.
Marlin enjoyed playing cards with his weekly card group, golfing, bowling, and deer hunting. He was an avid sports fan following both the Detroit Lions and Tigers along with the University of Michigan athletic teams.
Mr. Gallup held a love for travel and reading books, especially the Bible, but his greatest passion of all was his family. Marlin was a wonderful, loving, and supportive grandfather to his grandchildren, never missing an event they were involved in. He will be dearly missed as a cherished father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Marlin leaves behind his children Cindy Mertin of Kalamazoo, MI, Jeffrey Gallup of Bronson, MI, Gary Gallup of Tekonsha, MI; his grandchildren Zachary (Lisa) Gallup of Hinsdale, IL, Ryan Gallup of Detroit, MI, and Jacob Gallup of Bronson, MI.
In addition to his wife Kay Gallup, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Dawn Gallup.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Tekonsha First Baptist Church.
