Terrance “Terry” D. Garn, 82, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Jesus Name Apostolic Church, 300 Smith Street, Coldwater with Pastor Jeff Waid officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Terry was born November 22, 1940, in Traverse City, MI to Earl C. & Helen F. (Hayes) Garn. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State College where he played on the football team. Terry married Sandra K. Corbin on November 1, 1961, in Grant, MI.
Mr. Garn was an entrepreneur of sorts. He owned and operated Eagle Printing in Coldwater for many years, eventually selling the business. Terry then opened several locations of Garno’s pizzerias in Michigan and Indiana, which he operated for 13 years. In later years, Terry worked at the former Oldsmobile Scramble, retiring in 2002.
Terry was a member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church and a former member of the Coldwater Exchange Club. He was a proud athlete, playing many sports and was especially proud of his college football years. Terry was an avid golfer and enjoyed the fine art and skill of painting with acrylics.
Terry is survived by his wife Sandy; his children Wendy (Dominic) Buanno of Frontier, Terrance “Teg” (Anita) Garn of Coldwater, Shelley (Jerry) Dibean of Coldwater, Chad (Jeanne) Garn of Jonesville, Laura Garn-Perez of Coldwater, Alex (Dani) Garn of Coldwater; 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Dick Garn and sister Nancy Garn.
