COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council introduced an ordinance Monday night that creates a civil infraction for anyone parking a non-electric vehicle in one of the two EV charging parking spaces on East Chicago Street, near the Kerr block.
Over the past year, the Coldwater BPU replaced a single charger with two chargers on U.S. 12.
City Attorney Megan Angell says the parking areas for the EV chargers have been clearly marked but some drivers have been parking their non-EV vehicles in those spaces.
The draft ordinance was developed with input from Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid and Deputy Director Pat Beeman.
The ordinance is now scheduled for final adoption October 23.
