COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Maple Lawn Medical Care and Rehabilitation Facility will get just under $1 million that the State of Michigan owes them next week.
Branch County Commissioner Jon Houtz, who serves as the Board of Commissioners liaison to Maple Lawn, gave Commissioners the good news on Tuesday after the Maple Lawn Board meeting earlier that morning.
He added Maple Lawn’s census has increased up to 110 which has allowed Maple Lawn to have more cash on hand. But there have been recent COVID-19 issues.
A cut in residents during the COVID-19 pandemic has been cited as the main reason Maple Lawn got into a financial squeeze over the last year.
Maple Lawn has taken $500,000 worth of advances from the county to help with their cash flow issues.
A resolution passed by Commissioners last April calls for Maple Lawn to make a full repayment to the county by May 1, 2024.
