Fred A. Culy, Jr., age 98, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
There will be no services or calling hours for Fred Culy at this time. Private family interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
He was born February 4, 1925, in Lansing, Michigan. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Curtis in 1945, and she preceded him in death in 2013.
Fred graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing and attended Michigan State University. He served in the Army from 1943-1945. He moved to Coldwater in 1955 to work for Daniel’s Jewelry store, later becoming Zales. In 1968, he opened Culy’s Jewelry with his son Jeff, and worked until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, Elks, Coldwater Noon Rotary, VFW and the Quincy American Legion. Fred was an avid golfer, getting a hole in one, twice!
Survivors include his son, Jeff (Kathy) Culy of Coldwater and son-in-law, Allan Forrister; grandchildren, Laura (Tony) Trojanowski, Alissa (Mac) Persails, Dr. Alex (Emily) Culy, Jim (Debra) Forrister and Amy (Bob) Curtis; great grandchildren, Glenn, Griffen, Madilynn, Lee, Julia, Mariella, Rosette, Violet, Sarah and Sam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Fred Culy III; daughter, Christine Forrister; and granddaughter, Tracie Lyn Culy.
Donations in memory of Fred can be made to the local Veteran’s Footlocker, or the Quincy American Legion. Family meant the world to Fred, in remembrance, please give your loved ones a hug.
