UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – More details about the congregate meal program that will start at the Union City Senior Center in early 2024 have been announced.
Branch County Commission on Aging Board of Directors unanimously voted at their October meeting to authorize Executive Director Amy Duff to move forward with an expansion to their current congregate lunch program for Branch County seniors.
The Village of Union City’s Senior Center and the C.O.A will form a partnership offering hot and nutritious meals to area seniors three days per week.
Dine in meals will be served on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. excluding county approved holidays.
Meals are served to Branch County residents 60 years of age or older with a suggested $3 donation. The current restaurant voucher program will be phased out at the end of this year.
Nutrition Director Michael Searing said, “Switching from our current restaurant voucher program to the new congregate dining site will allow us to more effectively serve the seniors of Branch County.”
