Cynthia J. Ricketts, 69, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born January 15, 1954 in Hillsdale, the daughter of Warren and Norma (Tittle) Rutz. Cindy graduated from Reading High School, Class of 1972. She worked in the accounting department at Hillsdale County Road Commission for many years.
Outside of her professional life, Cindy enjoyed sports all of her life. As a young woman she liked horseback riding, played on local softball leagues and recreational volleyball teams for a number of years, and was a little league softball coach for a while. Cindy was also a dedicated fan who enjoyed attending her niece’s, and later her granddaughter’s and great nieces’, sporting events and was a big MSU sports fan.
She also enjoyed eating out with friends and family and having fun times with her close friends.
Survivors include her son, Matthew Avra of Quincy; mother, Norma Rutz; granddaughter, Alivia Avra; sister, Janet Aemisegger; niece, Crystal Page; great nieces, Maya and Karly Page and her loyal dog, Bootsie.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Warren Rutz.
