BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A pair of Branch County high school wrestling teams are ranked in the top ten for Division Four in the State of Michigan heading into the new season.
According to the Michigan Grappler web site, their pre-season poll has Bronson ranked fourth while Union City is rated seventh.
Defending M.H.S.A.A. Division Four champion Hudson is the top ranked team followed by St. Louis, Manchester, Bronson and Martin with New Lothrop, Union City, Benzie Central, Decatur and Pine River rounding out the top ten.
Both the Bronson and Union City programs are hoping to build off of spectacular seasons in 2022-23. Grady Iobe and Landyn Crance of Union City won M.H.S.A.A. Division Four wrestling championships while Bronson’s Perry Lake earned a second place finish at the Individual Wrestling Finals last March at Ford Field in Detroit.
In the team tournament, the Vikings got all the way to the Division Four finals at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo before they lost to Hudson.
