COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Officials at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital have announced the hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group which is a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.
Leapfrog grades hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures.
Site Administrator Daniel Schwanke stated in a news release from the hospital, “We are honored to receive this recognition for the fourth consecutive survey season. Our staff continues to demonstrate their unwavering dedication to providing the highest quality care to our patients and the community. We could not be more proud of our team as we are one of only 24 hospitals in Michigan to receive this ‘A’ grade.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
Meanwhile, everybody is still waiting for official word on the possible sale of the hospital. ProMedica announced in May it had entered into an asset purchase agreement with American Healthcare Systems, which intends to acquire the Coldwater hospital. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
