COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A teenager was injured Wednesday morning after being struck by a turning vehicle at the intersection of Grand and Waterman in the City of Coldwater.
Coldwater Police say it happened just after 7:00 a.m. as the 15-year-old was walking to school. Police say the vehicle was turning left when the youngster was hit in the cross walk.
The driver of the vehicle immediately called Branch County 9-1-1.
The teenager was transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for reported injuries to the hip and elbow that were said to be not serious.
It was dark and raining at the time of the incident. With the shorter days, Coldwater Police is reminding residents to wear reflective clothing during the pre-dawn and evening hours.
And for drivers to carefully watch for children in cross walks, especially when schools open in AMs as well as when schools release students in afternoons. Children have the right of way in crosswalks.
