Henrietta J. Kerkstra, 92, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Scott Marsh from the Coldwater United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Henrietta was born June 27, 1931, to Louis and Mildred (Russert) Zuidema in Worth, IL. She married Walter A. Kerkstra on July 1, 1950, in Worth, IL. He preceded her in death January 11, 2015.
Mrs. Kerkstra was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She had also worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago and in housekeeping at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Henrietta was an active member at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater where she helped with the SERA, MARSP and the Mary and Martha Dinners. She enjoyed dancing with the Merry Mixers square dance club and spending time at Rose Lake where they lived for many years.
Henrietta’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Henrietta is survived by her daughter Karen Eyster of Coldwater and Virginia (Ernie) Perez of Fort Worth, TX; her grandchildren Michael Shiery, Bradley Shiery, Mindy Smith, Jason Eyster and her great grandchildren Tristan and Delilah.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Paul Kerkstra in 1988 and her sisters Marilyn Spruce and Evelyn Demonbruen.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church of Coldwater.
