COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has been notified they will get over $411,000 in additional Essential Local Public Health Services funding for Fiscal Year 24.
The money comes from the additional $25 million appropriated by the state legislature.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns told the Community Health Agency’s Board of Directors on Thursday that their discussions indicate the number one priority is providing an increase in wages to staff members.
She added Agency Directors are finding it increasingly difficult to keep employees and attract new hires because of their wage structure.
The Community Health Agency is still waiting for decisions from the three counties on increases in local appropriations they have requested for the next year.
Burns pointed out in her report the local appropriation increase they are requesting still keeps their local funding at a lower amount then 2011 funding and their local funding is still below the 50 percent required in the Public Health Code.
