COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A resolution for a proposed $600,000 renovation project at Waterworks Park is scheduled to come before the Coldwater City Council on Monday night.
The City and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities have been unable to get a couple of grants during the past two years to assist in funding the renovation of the park.
City Manager Keith Baker says the estimated budget for the proposed project is $600,000.
It would include the development of two new asphalt parking areas, new asphalt walking/bike paths and a new grass youth soccer field.
A draft design of the project can be found in the Council’s meeting packet that has been posted at the city’s web site, www.coldwater.org.
Baker says the CBPU has previously identified a match of $300,000 toward the construction and he recommending to the Council that the City consider match the CBPU’s allocation with $300,000 in ARPA or general fund balance to cover the remainder of the project cost.
If approved, the project go out for bids this winter with work scheduled to begin in the late spring or early summer of 2024.
Baker feels the opportunity to improve the City’s primary open space in the First Ward and southeast corner of the city would greatly benefit the adjacent neighborhood and community as a whole.
