QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The lone bid for a 28 unit housing development on land the Village of Quincy purchased from Quincy Community Schools last year was approved Tuesday night by the Quincy Village Council.
The Village posted a Request for Proposal earlier this year on the 28 lots by the Rotary Recreation Project.
Under their proposal, Glass Slipper LLC wanted to exchange the land for the development of the required infrastructure and per the agreement with the school district at a cost of $28 or $1 per lot which was only to establish the base price of the lots for accounting purposes.
The Quincy School Board of Education approved the land transfer agreement with the Village a year ago. The transfer involved about four-and-a-half acres of land northeast of the Quincy High School baseball field as the Village wanted to develop a parcel of property for a residential purpose.
The property was sold by the school district for $1. The agreement also stated that if the Village has not begun the development of the property for residential purposes within five years, the property would automatically revert to back to Quincy Community Schools.
Glass Slipper said in their presentation to the Council during their workshop two weeks ago the 28 lots will not be part of an Planned Urban Development and they will each have individual elements in design and exteriors.
They added the development of these houses will allow those in the Quincy community who need larger housing to “move up” to these houses without having to move out of the area.
The school sold the land to the village for $1. Are you paying attention Kramer and Kronies? Stop letting the CSS rip off the city taxpayers!
