Leon Paul Ash, 87, of Girard Township, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at his home under hospice care, surrounded by his loving family.
The family is hosting a celebration of life with dinner to follow Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Girard United Methodist Church, 990 Marshall Rd, Coldwater, MI 49036.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation Services in Union City.
Leon was born July 16, 1936, in Coldwater, to Wilford and Rowena (Boone) Ash. He attended school in Coldwater. Leon married his wife Georgia Snyder, on February 23, 1957, in Coldwater. They were lifelong residents of Girard.
He drove a cement truck for Consumers Concrete in Quincy for many years.
Leon was a family man and loved spending time with them. Luckily, most of his children continued to live and start their own families in the Coldwater area. He loved watching NASCAR and the Weather Channel. He was an avid turkey hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting deer and small game.
There were no strangers to Leon. He had many special friends and will be missed by many.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Georgia, his children; Leon “Pete” (Monica) Ash, Tammie (Ken) Vaughn, and Randy (Michelle) Ash, all of Coldwater, his grandchildren; Shondell Hamlin, Danielle (Jeremy) Wibert, Tanyell (Jeff) Uren, Kenny (Lisa) Vaughn, Brandi Jo (Mike) Ferguson, Dalton (Kayla) Hardie, and Cody (Ashley) Ash, many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Leon was proceeded in death by his parents along with his three brothers; Herman, Leonard, and Carl, his son, Lynn Ash, and granddaughter, Chelsie Ash.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094, to assist the family with final expenses.
