COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two of the newest members of the Branch County Sheriff’s Office were recently sworn in. The Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page that Cody Moore and Nolan Thomas are now serving as Corrections Officers.
Deputy Moore started with the Sheriff’s Office on November 20. He lives in the Marshall area.
Deputy Thomas started on November 27 and lives in Coldwater.
Thomas is also a graduate of the Branch Area Career Center’s Law Enforcement program. He performed his internship at the Sheriff’s Office while attending Law Enforcement class.
Moore and Thomas come on board after the Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a request in October from Sheriff John Pollack to hire two new corrections officers to replace two others who will soon be transferring to road patrol deputy duties.
The Corrections Officers who will be switching to the road patrol have finished their Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards pre-employment testing but won’t be able to go to the academy until January.
County Commissioner Jon Houtz said during a Commissioners work session on October 12 the Sheriff’s Department wanted to hire two new corrections officers prior to January in order to have them trained before the two transfers leave for the academy.
