COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal basketball teams hosted Parents Night Tuesday at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
The Cardinal boys dropped to 0-3 as visiting Battle Creek Lakeview used a 13-7 fourth quarter to take the 39-36 victory. The Spartans’ trapping defense forced seven Coldwater turnovers in the final frame. LeBron Campbell took advantage by scoring all but two of his team’s points in the fourth quarter; he finished with a game-high 16 points as the Spartans improved to 2-0.
Gavin Taylor led the Cardinals with 14 points; Ayden Dirschell added 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.

The Lady Cardinals opened their season by beating the Spartans 52-22. Coldwater scored the first ten points of the game and never looked back. Elli Anderson led a balanced attack with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, while Elli Foley had 10 points, 2 boards, and 4 steals. Coley Burkhardt had 9 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, and Kenzie Scheid had a team-high 10 rebounds.

Coldwater also won the JV girls game over Lakeview 37-18. Marie Powers led the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
