COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The rebuilding of the bridge on U.S. 12 over the Coldwater River was supposed to have improved pedestrian safety but it has also apparently created a traffic hazard.
John Simkanin says the Michigan Department of Transportation changed the traffic pattern by adding a left turn lane but it has made the intersection with the Pilot Knob residences hazardous.
He says you must pull out into the west bound lane of U.S. 12 to look for oncoming traffic. Simkanin feels the intersection needs a light or the lines need to be moved back so there would no longer be a left turn lane.
Flyers have been distributed and Pilot Knob residents are being told to contact M.D.O.T. at (517) 241-2400 to let them know about the situation.
