Robert “Bob” Smoker, 85, of Bronson, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was welcomed into Heaven Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Bob was born on December 19, 1937, in Bronson, Michigan, to Florian “Johnny” and Anna (Chuprun) Smoker. He graduated from Bronson High School in 1956 and married Janice Sikorski on May 21, 1960. They later divorced but remained close friends.
Bob attended the International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where he studied finance/accounting. He worked most of his career at Douglas Mfg. / Scott & Fetzer, working his way up to be the Chief Finance Officer.
He was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s Assumption Church and a lifetime member of the 3rd Degree and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
In his later years, he enjoyed walking to daily mass. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard or on his antique Falcon automobile, bowling, dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their sporting events.
Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Karie) Smoker of Shelbyville, TN, Barbara (Jerry) Swain of Port St. Lucie, FL, Bryan (Susan) Smoker of Orlando, FL, Karen (Joe) Massimilla of Nashville, TN, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in passing by his parents, his brother, Ralph (Mary) Smoker and Janice Smoker.
In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial donation to the Knights of Columbus Council 2924 in Bronson.
