Mary Margaret Luke, 87, of Coldwater passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving children.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Ward officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Mary was born October 9, 1936, to Howard and Dorothy (Layman) Snyder in Coldwater, MI. She married Lysle I. Luke on July 1, 1956, in Coldwater. He preceded her in death May 30, 2013.
Mrs. Luke worked for Dr. Nettleman’s office for many years. Later she started working for Franklin and Lincoln Elementary as a paraprofessional and teaching English as a second language to students, retiring in 2001.
Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church since she was 16 years old. She was also a big part of the First Baptists Widowers Group, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School for many years. Mary was a lifetime member of the Branch County Flying Club. She enjoyed ceramics, creating artwork, and making crafts for the holidays.
Mary especially loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and attending most every school and sport event they were involved in. Above all else Mary’s greatest gifts were demonstrating her faithful service to God, a loving wife and mother, and adoring her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children Larry (Amy) Luke of Florence, AZ, Kristine (Michael) Gatke of Coldwater; her siblings Robert Snyder of Churchville, NY, Betty Paul of Sacramento, California, Ruth (Ray) Bayless of Gold Canyon, AZ, Rose Casey of Marshall, MI, Sylvia Bowdish of New Haven, IN, Carol (Chris) Brown of Coldwater; her grandchildren Kerri (Corey) Parker, and Sarah (Joseph) Renshaw; her great grandchildren Josilyn Parker, Crosby Parker, Boston Renshaw, and twins Huxley and Sailor Renshaw; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband,
Mary was preceded in death by her son, David Luke.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center.
