BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings and the Union City Chargers got Big 8 Conference wins on Tuesday night while Quincy dropped their conference opener.
Bronson improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big 8 Conference with a 68-34 thrashing of the Reading Rangers. Kam Brackett continued his blazing start as he poured in 33 points to lead the Vikings. Dom Kiomento added 15 points while Saylor Wotta grabbed 11 rebounds for Bronson.
Union City is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big 8 Conference after their 54-40 win over Springport at McNett Fieldhouse. Aidan Decker led a balanced Union City attack with 14 points while Eli Payne had 13 points and Rick Austin added 11 points.
Quincy ran into a buzzsaw, falling 61-35 to a strong Concord team. The Yellowjackets stung the 1-2 Orioles early and often, to the tune of a 28-6 halftime lead. Quincy showed some grit and determination in the second half, but it was not enough. Quincy was led by Brandon Miner’s 10 points and three rebounds; Jimmy Maynard added 10 points; Ryan Kempter chipped in nine points and five rebounds.
Quincy won the J.V. game over Concord 46-25. Brennan Morrell led the Orioles with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Braylon Estlow had 10 points, four assists and five steals. Garrett Haylett had five points and two rebounds.
