UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Fire Department has received a $20,000 Michigan Fire Equipment grant through the State of Michigan’s Treasury Department.
The department plans to purchase personal protective equipment with the funds.
The grant is fully funded, no local match is needed.
Fire Chief Scott Stevens says they are planning to buy 17 particulate blocking hoods, eight sets of dual certified wildland/extrication jumpsuits, four new SCBA masks, four Scott in mask thermal imagers, four voice amplifiers, two sets of turnout gear and 15 handheld flashlights.
