BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings suffered a heartbreaking 66-63 double overtime loss to the Concord Yellow Jackets in a early season Big 8 Conference showdown on Thursday night in Bronson.
The Vikings rallied after being down 38-27 at the half. They used a 16-7 fourth quarter to tie the score 55-55 at the end of regulation.
It remained tied at 58-58 after the first overtime. Concord got the winning bucket on a Mekhi Wingfield three-point shot with 2.4 seconds left in the second overtime.
Wingfield and Bronson’s Kam Brackett both scored 37 points. The Vikings are now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 8.
Quincy evened their record at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big 8 as they won at arch-rival Reading 43-36 on Thursday night. Quincy used a 21-14 second half scoring advantage to pull away with the victory, after being knotted up at 22-22 at halftime.
Quincy had a balanced scoring attack and a 13-1 advantage on made free throws to help secure the win.
