Michael “Mike” Dean Hodge, 67, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
The family will receive guests for visitation that morning from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mike was born on June 20, 1956 in Waynesville, Missouri; the son of Wilbur D. Hodge and Helen (Mueller) Gibson. He graduated from Newburg High School with the Class of 1975.
He retired in 2014 after 25 years of serving as a corrections officer with Lakeland Correctional Facility. He went on to work as a bus driver for Coldwater Schools from 2015 to 2021.
Mike enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR and other racing events, attending Coldwater Cardinal sporting events, Michigan State games, and spending time with his loving family, especially hide and seek with his granddaughters.
Mike had a deep love for his family and friends. On August 16, 1991, Mike married Sharon Taylor in Coldwater, MI where they shared over 30 years of marriage. He was a loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Mike is loved and survived by his wife Sharon Hodge of Coldwater, his children Taylor (Tayler) Hodge of Lansing, Shannon (Robert Miller) Schaeffer of Coldwater, Ryan (Dr. Allison Hanson) Schaeffer of Louisville, KY; his beautiful granddaughters Bennett Grace Schaeffer and Sawyer Ryann Schaeffer; his sister Rose (Don) Lahnum of Allen; his loving nieces and nephews, close friend Terry (Annette) Szafranski of Coldwater, and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Keagy Gibson, and his stepsister Rita Gibson.
