Mary Margaret Henderson, 96, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at her home.
The funeral service will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman from St. Charles Borromeo Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Mary was born November 3, 1927, in Coldwater, MI to Floyd & Marie (Campbell) Tucker. She married George A. Henderson on September 20, 1952, in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2014.
Mrs. Henderson worked at Federal Mogul before beginning her career as a real estate broker. She was a pioneer of the trade in the early 1960’s, going to work for Laney Realty in Coldwater. Mary was one of very few women in the industry, becoming a top producer in her first year.
She founded Henderson Realty in 1972 and was later joined by her husband, George, after leaving his executive position at Federal Mogul. Together, they operated a very successful agency until their retirement in 1992.
Mary was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Coldwater Sweet Adelines. She was proud to have worked with the local election committee for John F. Kennedy, getting to ride with him when he came to town. Mary was instrumental in the establishment of the Sister City International program and bringing it to Coldwater. She was very active in many local organizations and enjoyed giving back to her community.
Aside from her drive to be a successful career woman and entrepreneur, she was a dedicated wife and mother and very supportive to her husband in his role as the Mayor of Coldwater.
Mary is survived by her children Linda Feiler of Belleair Bluffs, FL, Karen (Rich) Crabtree of Coldwater, Mark (Gail) Henderson of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Mary Jo Henderson of Belleair Beach, FL; her siblings Robert Tucker of Union, Peggy (Fred) Pierson of Marshall; her exchange daughters Jutta Wendt of Germany, Trisky Singian of NY, Karin Minor of Germany; her former son-in-law Laurence Feiler III of Elkhart, IN; her grandchildren Cori (Adam) Krause, Lance (Cara) Feiler, Eric (Christy) Crabtree, Ryan (Kristen) Crabtree, Chris (Whitney) Crabtree, Kelly Gettel, Erin Henderson Mark (Jamie) Henderson; her great grandchildren Scott, Taylor, Daphne, Dereck, Gabby, Logan, Cole, Connor, Brady, Alex, Lance, Alexa and her great, great grandson Holben.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Floyd Tucker, Jr., Paul Tucker, Charles Tucker, Betty Groholski and Pat Case.
