COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Michael Thyng has become the first announced candidate to run for Sheriff in the 2024 election.
Thyng announced his intention to run for Sheriff in a Facebook post on New Year’s Day.
He will be running as a Republican. The Bronson resident served as a Michigan State Police trooper for over 30 years before retiring in February of 2020.
He came out of retirement in January of 2021 to fill a Branch County Sheriff’s Department deputy vacancy.
