COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told County Commissioners during their work session on Thursday morning he intends to retire when his contract expires on December 31, 2024.
Norman made the announcement near the end of the work session.
Norman’s pending retirement and the search for his replacement adds to what is shaping up to be a challenging year for the Commissioners.
Norman detailed a county building improvement plan and updated Commissioners on the county’s broadband project and the pending demolition of the old county jail on Thursday.
Commission Chair Tim Stoll thanked Norman for his years of service.
Norman was hired as County Administrator in 2006 as he succeeded Duke Anderson.
The Commissioners gave Norman a “satisfactory” rating in October after they discussed his job performance and contract during a nearly one hour closed session.
The closed session with Norman was held as part of his yearly evaluation.
