QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy Community Schools is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for an open position on the School Board after Greg Richer’s recent resignation.
Richer was the Board Vice Chair. He resigned on December 22 after serving on the board for eight years.
The district posted information about the opening on its Facebook page and its web site on Friday. The posting stated the applicant must be a registered voter in the Quincy school district, be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States; a resident of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days; and a resident of the school district.
The appointed candidate will serve out the balance of Richer’s term which ends on December 31, 2024.
The appointed candidate would be eligible to seek election to a full six year term on this November’s ballot. The six-year term would begin on January 1, 2025.
Individuals interested in being considered for the board vacancy should submit a letter of interest which includes background information about the candidate.
Letters of interest must be submitted to Superintendent Marc Kramer by 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 11, 2024 to be eligible for consideration. They may be emailed to kramerm@quincyschools.org, mailed to Quincy Community Schools or hand delivered to the Superintendent’s office.
Interviews and an appointment will be made at a Special Board Meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024 prior to the regularly scheduled Board Meeting. Prospective candidates should be in attendance at this meeting and prepared to be interviewed by the Board of Education.
