STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – Three Steuben County men were arrested Friday night after an altercation at a birthday party.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department got a report of a physical altercation in the 4100 block of West County Road 135 South in Pleasant Township at about 11:00 p.m.. Initial reports indicated that multiple people were fighting and possible weapons were involved.
According to a Sheriff’s Department statement, the altercation allegedly started over an inappropriate gesture by one of the male party guests towards a female party guest.
By the time Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, an alleged victim had already left to seek treatment of injuries at a nearby hospital. The 33-year-old man had multiple head and facial injuries. He was subsequently transported to a Fort Wayne are hospital for further treatment.
The preliminary investigation indicated three men and a woman were additional victims.
Arrested were 26-year-old Benny Joe Medina of Hamilton and 28-year-old Joseph Lupercio-Soto of Angola on charges of battery resulting in serious injury and criminal mischief. In addition, 23 year old Jacob Lupercio-Soto of Angola was arrested for misdemeanor battery resulting in injury and criminal mischief.
All three suspects were booked into the Steuben County Jail.
A large metal rod allegedly used in the attack was taken from the scene and secured as evidence at the Sheriff’s Office.
The case remains under investigation.
