BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Freezing rain and icy road conditions led to another round of school closings in Branch County on Tuesday.
After not using any snow days until January 9, it was the fifth time in two weeks that classes were scrubbed by administrators because of bad weather.
Some government offices and businesses opened a couple of hours late as the freezing rain led to ice accumulations and difficult travel conditions.
The cold ground temperatures caused secondary and untreated roads to become icy and very slippery. Pavement temperatures were expected to rise above freezing later on Tuesday which would allow travel conditions to improve.
Sidewalks, driveways and other paved surfaces have also become icy and should be used with extreme caution.
