COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Winter Fest will still be held on Saturday at Heritage Park in Coldwater even though the weather is not cooperating.
One of the big highlights in recent years has been the Coldwater Kiwanis Club Cardboard Sled Race but the club announced on Friday that the actual race has been postponed due to the weather.
Those who have built a sled are being asked to bring it to the park for the Best Design contest.
Things were looking good for the sled races at the Kiwanis Hill until this past Monday.
Temperatures have been above the freezing mark in recent days which has caused the snow which fell earlier this month to melt away. It has also been to warm to make snow since the mercury has to be below 30 degrees for the Kiwanis Club’s snow machine to work.
All they had on Friday was a sloppy muddy mess. All other Winterfest activities will be held as scheduled.
City of Coldwater Community Enrichment Director Julie Santure says there will be plenty of indoor activities at the Browne Recreation Center.
Winter Fest is free and all of the activities will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.. This will be the fifth year Winter Fest has been put on by the City of Coldwater.
