BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It was a rough Tuesday night for Branch County varsity boys basketball teams as Coldwater, Quincy, Union City and Tekonsha were all beaten.
The Jackson Northwest Mounties completed a season sweep of the Coldwater Cardinals as they defeated the Cardinals 63-45.
Coldwater could not maintain the momentum from last Friday’s emotional win over Marshall. Northwest built a 31-19 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half building their lead to 48-28 after the third quarter. The Cardinals dropped to 5-13 overall, 4-5 in the Interstate 8.
Coldwater’s J.V. team defeated Northwest 81-67 as they improved to 13-4. Dayton Ennis led Coldwater with 17 points while Landon Dirschell had 16 points. Dracyn Foster, Jakyi Brown Abston and Sebastian Ocampo all had 14 points. Foster also had eight rebounds, six steals and seven assists.
The Coldwater freshman boys basketball team lost to Jackson Northwest 42-21.

Quincy took a long trip to Climax-Scotts for a non-conference game and lost 54-43. The second quarter doomed the Orioles, as they were outscored 20-3. Brandon Miner had a double-double for the Orioles with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Grant Carter and Ryan Kempter each scored eight 8 points while Alex Dunn had eight rebounds
Union City was edged at Kalamazoo Christian 40-39 while Tekonsha lost to Colon 64-31.
