QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – There is an opening on the Quincy School Board after a long time member stepped down recently.
Alan McClellan turned in his resignation on January 23. His term on the board was set to expire at the end of the year. McClellan served on the board for nearly 15 years and was the board president from 2017 until this past December.
McClellan was elected to the Branch County Board of Commissioners in November of 2022. Adding to his busy schedule, McClellan was chosen as the President of the Branch County Fair Board for 2024 last October.
Quincy Community Schools is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the opening who live in the district and are at least 18 years old.
The appointed candidate would be eligible to seek election to a full six year term in this November’s election.
Those interested in being considered for the board vacancy should submit a letter of interest to Superintendent Marc Kramer by 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 15.
Interviews and an appointment will be made at the next Regular Board Meeting on Monday, February 19, 2024.
The Quincy School Board opening is the second one that has to be filled in recent weeks.
Greg Richer resigned on December 22. Seven candidates applied for the position before the board chose Chelsea Lofton last month to serve out the rest of Richer’s term.
