COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With a long time Branch County District Court employee retiring in three weeks, the Branch County Board of Commissioners brought forward a resolution during Thursday’s work session which approves the appointment of Sarah Collins as the part time non-attorney Magistrate.
She will assume those duties from Chief Probation Officer Flip Johnson who is retiring on March 8 after 45 years of service to the county.
District Court Judge Brent Weigle made the appointment.
Weigle said Collins can step in if he and Magistrate Val White are busy.
Under state law, the appointment needs approval from the Commissioners before she can assume her duties.
Formal action by Commissioners is scheduled to take place next Tuesday.
