COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Union City man remains at large after he failed to appear for two Branch County Circuit Court sentencing hearings on October 16 and 23.
A warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Owen Waters who was charged with seven counts following a November 10, 2022 high speed pursuit while two children were in his vehicle.
A $25,000 bond for Waters has also been revoked.
Waters eventually entered guilty pleas to charges of fourth degree child abuse, third degree fleeing from a police officer and operating impaired. Four other charges were to be dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his pleas.
Waters is described as being five-feet-seven-inches tall. He weighs 150 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of 1111 above his left eye and a tattoo of a rose on his hand.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department said at the time of the pursuit that it started when deputies saw a southbound car traveling at a very high rate of speed on Old U.S. 27 at Garfield Road. The deputies tried to stop the vehicle while it was weaving in and out of traffic.
After about five miles, the vehicle crashed at the end of West Fenn Road by Butcher Road. The Sheriff’s Department said at the time of the incident that one child was buckled up, the other was not.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Owen Dale Waters is asked to call the Branch County Sheriff’s Department at (517) 278-2325 or your nearest law enforcement agency.
