COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Planner Jake VanBoxel reported during Monday’s Planning Commission meeting that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has formally approved the City’s 2024 through 2029 Recreation Plan.
This will allow the city to apply for Michigan DNR grants to help fund the Rotary Park expansion project.
The recreation plan was put together after local citizens provided feedback in a survey for future additions and improvements to the city’s parks.
Respondents were asked questions about how often they visited the parks and how satisfied they are with the current maintenance of public parks and recreation facilities in Coldwater.
City staff developed a five-year action program that included 15 potential projects.
Meanwhile, Van Boxel also reported that proposed commercial mini-storage facilities at 695 West Chicago will not take place.
In the only action item on the agenda, the Planning Commission approved a request by Allison Barth for a Special Land Use Permit to operate her hair salon business on a 13 acre parcel of land on Race Street owned by Warehouse Properties of Coldwater.
